Rita started piano at age of five and participated in youth piano competitions in China throughout her teenage years and won many awards. She majored in computing and developed a career in human resource related fields. Balancing a professional role with family duties took her away from regular piano practice for many years. Rita restarted piano lessons in 2023, following pianist Chen Zhengyu as her teacher, and attending classes with Dang Tai Son, Fabio Bidini, Enrico Elisi, Michael Berkovsky. She performed with the Fort Worth symphony Orchestra in same year as winner of the Van Cliburn music festival concerto competition. She was also finalist of the Oberlin international amateur piano competition in 2025.
