Jan has studied Political Science, Geography and Japanology at the University of Bonn, Germany. Since then he has been working as a travel author. In 2025 his book about a small German island was released. He often travels to Japan, because he is half Japanese and some of his relatives live in Japan. He is married and has three children, ages 9, 12 and 14 years old. He has loved music since he was a young boy. During the Covid Pandemic he started playing the piano again. Currently it is once again his great passion.
