Brian McCorkle studied piano for a year at age 6 until his parents decided to save their money as he never practiced. Nonetheless, he earned a B.Mus. in trombone performance (Crane School of Music, SUNY-Potsdam). After a lifetime in academia, including a PhD in clinical psychology and university research professorships, he now thoroughly enjoys retirement. During retirement, he began studying piano seriously with Lydia Reed-Guertin, took masterclasses with Roberto Poli, and progressed farther than he'd dreamed. He enjoys playing group and individual recitals and dinner music for the BSO Cafe.
